Join us for a lively "speed dating" book exchange around yummy snacks and beverages!
Here's how it will work: You bring a copy of one of your favorite books. (Make sure it's new or gently used.) Be prepared to briefly describe why you like it. (There will be a timer!) The group then has a few minutes to respond or ask questions. One by one, everyone pitches their book. Which title will catch your attention?
Here's where the plot thickens. Everyone has been given a random number. At the end of the evening, numbers are called and one by one everyone gets to choose one of the books presented to the party. Like an old-fashioned white-elephant party, some swapping may ensue. What's a good story without a bit of conflict, eh?
By the way, we request that if you bring fiction, it should be as top-of-the-line as possible. If you bring nonfiction, it should be from categories other than self-help or devotional. Let's strive for titles that challenge our imagination!
We'll be gathering in a private residence. Space is limited to 20 people. Also, if you can bring a snack or beverage to share, that would be lovely but not necessary. Hope to see you!
